Anaesthesia
We use different types of anaesthesia. After discussion with Dr Grave, a decision will be made as to whether surgery will be done under:
- Local anaesthesia - If surgery is simple, local anaesthesia is used to numb the area.
- Conscious sedation - Some patients may benefit from a sedative drug administered into a vein during local anaesthesia to help relieve anxiety and pain. This conscious sedation is performed in our rooms by a Specialist Anaesthetist and recovery under the care of our Registered Nurse.
- General anaesthesia - Dr Grave may recommend a general anaesthetic which involves going to hospital and going to sleep completely.
